How to choose a blouse colour for your saree
The blouse changes how a saree looks. These five rules work for most sarees. The examples are styling suggestions using our own colours.
1. Look at the border first
The safest match is the saree's border or zari, not its main colour. A gold-toned blouse sits well with most gold zari borders.
Examples: Sitara Golden, Ruhani Sage Gold, Ruhani Copper.
2. Use contrast for a festive look
Contrast pairings are the classic choice for weddings and festivals.
- Green saree: a pink or magenta blouse, such as Nazakat Magenta Pink or Ruhani Rani Pink.
- Yellow saree: a purple or blue blouse, such as Meher Purple or Nazakat Royal Blue.
- Red or maroon saree: a green or gold blouse, such as Sitara Green or Sitara Golden.
- Blue saree: a yellow, mustard or orange blouse, such as Nazakat Mustard Yellow or Aarzoo Rust Orange.
- Pink saree: a green or blue blouse, such as Meher Parrot Green or Zariya Blue.
3. Match the colour for a quiet look
A blouse in the same colour as the saree gives a calm, single-colour look that suits daytime and office wear. Saumya comes in plain solid colours: Black, Green, Pink, Purple, Yellow.
4. Balance pattern with plain
A heavily patterned saree looks best with a plain blouse. A plain saree can carry a patterned or embroidered blouse, such as Maharani with its bold multicolour medallion pattern or Meher with its Kalamkari-style print.
5. Keep one neutral blouse
Black, cream and gold go with many sarees, so one neutral blouse covers several outfits. Examples: Saumya Black, Maharani Cream, Inayat Black.
